Kansas Reads to Preschoolers

November is Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Month!

Celebrate the importance of reading in the lives of young Kansans throughout the month of November.

The 2015 Title Selection Committee encourages libraries to keep track of the number of children who hear the book during the entire month. For pricing and ordering information, see the Order Form link below the picture.
Watch this page for events to be conducted the week of November 15-21 in the State Library.  Libraries around Kansas are planning events through the month of November.

2015 Title Selection

Is Your Mama a Llama?
by Deborah Guarino

This gentle, rhyming adventure story will appeal to babies and toddlers, as well as 3- to 5-year-old children. As Lloyd the llama searches for his mama, he asks his friends—various types of baby animals—whether their mamas are llamas. Children will delight in predicting the names of the mama animals based on the clues their babies give.

The committee is happy to say that Llama is available in several formats, including hardcover and audio versions (available through Amazon and other vendors).

In addition, Scholastic will be offering good discounts on the following formats:
• English paperbacks to be given to children
• Spanish paperbacks to be given to children
• English board books to be given to children
• English big books (suitable for storytime)
• Spanish big books (suitable for storytime)
Kansas Reads to Preschoolers is an annual event that promotes reading to all Kansas children from birth through age five. Through the statewide program, parents, librarians and caregivers are encouraged to read the chosen title during a selected week and month. This project is made possible by the State Library of Kansas and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
