Born in Kansas City on May 19, 1907, Edward F. Arn was the first
Kansas governor born in the 20th century. A World War II veteran and
Republican activist, Arn served as state attorney general and as a state
supreme court justice before his election as governor in 1950. Arn
returned to Wichita to practice law after completing his second term in
January 1955. He died there on January 22, 1998.
