OneClick Mac Media Manager

The Media Manager on some Macs is experiencing trouble with one format of book.  This is a known issue at OneClick and they are working on it, but we do not know when this may be resolved.   See this help note if this is happening to you.
Getting Started
To use OneClickdigital, you must (a) register for an account, (b) install the Media Manager software, (c) update your iTunes settings if you intend to transfer the books to an iPod.

A. Register for an account

  1. Go to Library eCard Login above and sign in with your Kansas Library Card.
  2. Choose the OneClickdigital registration link from the Digital Books eLending section.
  3. You will be taken to the Create an Account screen.  Fill out the form, some notes:
    • Username: is permanent!  Pick something easy to type and remember, do not use spaces.
    • Password: minimum of 7 characters, use letters and numbers.
    • Zip code: please provide a 5-digit zip for statistical purposes.
  4. Click the Create Account button once, and wait until "Welcome [Your Name]" appears in the upper right corner of the webpage.
B. Install the Media Manager software:
  1. Open your Mac's App Store.
  2. Search for and install the OneClickdigital Media Manager.  When complete, open the software (if you will use this often, you may wish to add Media Manager to your dock).
  3. Choose your region as North America when prompted.
  4. Enter the username & password you created during registration.
    • you may choose to have the software save your login information.
    • the software should associate you with the State Library of Kansas.  For many people this will be automatic.  If a drop-down appears asking you to select a library location, pick State Library of Kansas.
    • upon login, the software's checked out books area will be blank unless you have already checked out a book.
C. Update iTunes Setting for iPod (skip if you will not transfer to an iPod)
  1. With iTunes open, plug in your device.
  2. Click on your device's name (usually in upper right side of iTunes).
  3. Device Summary will appear.  Scroll down to Options.
  4. Make sure manually manage music and videos is turned on (box checkmarked).
Check Out a Book

  1. In Media Manager, click the Browse Website link.  This will open the OneClick website, where all checkouts are holds are placed.
  2. Search or browse for a book. Our favorite way:
    • Go to Advanced Search
    • Scroll down to the final box on the right - Available for Checkout.  Make this Available and search.
      • NOTE: some Mac users are experiencing a software glitch and should switch DRM Type to "Protected" as well.  This isolates the search to the format that works best for them at this time.
    • Every book with available copies will show.  From here, use the Search Selection column at right to narrow the search to a genre (like mystery) and/or the Sort By box at the top of the results (Release Date will put the newest first).
  3. When you have found a book, click the cover.  The book's details are shown.
  4. Use the Checkout Now button (if all copies are in use, the button is Hold).  If your browser asks to download a file, click cancel.
  5. Return to the Media Manager software.  If your new checkout does not show yet, click the refresh button (small rectangular button with two arrows in it).
Use a Book
  • Listen on the computer
    • click the Play Title button for the book.  The book will begin downloading to the computer, and start playing after a couple of chapters are downloaded.
    • pause, skip, or stop the book using the playback controls above the checked out list.  The software will save your place in the book automatically.
  • Transfer to an iPod:
    • connect your device to the computer.
    • click the Download/Transfer button for the book.
    • wait until you receive a message that the download is complete before disconnecting your device.
    • On device: audiobooks will transfer as a playlist.  Go into Music->Playlists to find them.

What Else?

  • Early Return and Renew - there are controls buttons for each checked out book in Media Manager.  If another person is waiting on a book, you will not be able to renew it (button will not be clickable).
  • Holds - from the My Collections area of the website, tap the Holds tab.  You can view your current holds and remove any you no longer want.
  • In My Collections area of the website, the Download Now buttons are for manual download users only, please do not use these.  You should use the control buttons in the Media Manager software for your books.
