OneClick Mac Media Manager

Mac OS X 10.7 & up only.   Mac are experiencing errors transferring to standard iPods (Shuffle, Nano, Classic).  For more information, see this news note.
Getting Started
To use OneClickdigital, you must (a) register for an account, (b) install the Media Manager software, (c) update your iTunes settings if you intend to transfer the books to an iPod. 

A. Register for an account 

  1. Go to Library eCard Login above (or to http://kslc.org )and sign in with your Kansas Library Card.
  2. Choose the OneClickdigital registration link from the Digital Books eLending section.
  3. You will be taken to the Create an Account screen.  Fill out the form, some notes: 
    • Username: is permanent!  Pick something easy to type and remember, do not use spaces.
    • Password: minimum of 7 characters, use letters and numbers.
    • Zip code: please provide a 5-digit zip for statistical purposes.
  4. Click the Create Account button once, and wait until your name appears in the upper right side of the webpage.  
B. Install the Media Manager software: 
  1. Open your Mac's App Store. 
  2. Search for and install the OneClickdigital Media Manager.  When complete, open the software (if you will use this often, you may wish to add Media Manager to your dock). 
  3. The Add Profile box appears.  Fill out as follows:
    • Country (USA) and State (KS)
    • Library = State Library of Kansas.  If you start typing "State" it will allow you to select the library.
    • Username & password = the account you created during registration.  You may choose to have it remember your login, to skip this step in the future. 
C. Update iTunes Setting for iPod (skip if you will not transfer to an iPod)
  1. With iTunes open, plug in your device.
  2. Click on your device's name (usually in upper right side of iTunes).
  3. Device Summary will appear.  Scroll down to Options. 
  4. Make sure manually manage music and videos is turned on (box checkmarked).
Check Out a Book

  1. In Media Manager, click the Browse Website link on the left side.  This will open  your browser to the correct start pages.
  2. Search or browse for a book using the areas provided: 
    • Search (quick search box) - this can be set to keyword, title, author.  This feature will only return books available to checkout now.
    • Genre - subject browse.  This also only returns available books.
    • Library Site - this allows access the full library collection.  Go this way if you would like to search the entire catalog (including books you have to place on hold) or
  3. When you have found a book, click the cover.  The book's details are shown.  
  4. Use the Checkout  button (if using Library Site and all copies are in use, the button is Hold).  If your browser asks to download a file, click cancel.  The page will refresh and the book will have been checked out to you.   
  5. Return to the Media Manager software.  If your new checkout does not show yet, click the refresh button (small rectangular button with two arrows in it, to the right side in gray bar).
Use a Book
  • Listen on the computer
    • click the Play Title button for the book.  The book will begin downloading to the computer, and start playing after a couple of chapters are downloaded. 
    • pause, skip, or stop the book using the playback controls above the checked out list (gray bar).  The software will save your place in the book automatically. 
  • Transfer to an iPod: 
    • connect your device to the computer. 
    • click the Download/Transfer button for the book.  
    • wait until you receive a message that the download is complete before disconnecting your device (it must download to the computer then transfer to device.  
    • On device: audiobooks will transfer as a playlist.  Go into Music->Playlists to find them.  

What Else?

  • Early Return and Renew - there are controls buttons for each checked out book in Media Manager.  If another person is waiting on a book, you will not be able to renew it (button will not be clickable). Books checkout for 21 days, so early return is encouraged. 
  • Holds - click the Browse Website link, go to the Library Site tab, then click into My Titles (from either Browse or by clicking your name on the right). You can view your current holds, see what place you are in line (and how many copies the library owns) and remove any you no longer want.
  • Need to update your account? Also in the Library Site tab, choose My Account (under Browse or your name). You can update your email, change your password, and now even choose a different username.
