Notes: Elected youngest member of Kansas Territorial Legislature in March, 1855. Civil War veteran: 13th Kansas Militia. During his tenure as a legislator he was appointed Land Commissioner of the Kansas City, Fort Scott & Gulf Railroad (1866). He later went on to work for the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad Company. Married 1st in October 1852, Prudence C. Funk. She died September 1874. He married 2nd on June 18, 1877, Zippie A. Scott. Johnson County, Kansas, was named after his father, the Reverand Thomas Johnson, who came to the area in 1829.
