Came to Kansas in 1886 or 1887 after losing in a race for Iowa Secretary of State. Governor of Kansas, 1893-1895. Member of the Kansas State Railway Commission, 1897-1899. Buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Wichita, Kansas.
