Cloud Library - Android app incompatible

These are instructions for when an Android device is either too old to use the Cloud Library app, or the processor on the device is lower powered.

On Device: Install & Set Up a Compatible eReading App

Any free ereader app that uses an Adobe ID will work. Aldiko Reader is used for these instructions because it is a stable reader that still works well on older Android devices.
    1. In your Play Store (or GetJar, or SlideMe Store) search for and install the Aldiko Reader.
    2. Open the Aldiko app. Tap the Aldiko menu button in the upper left corner (green books icon).
    3. Select "About" then "Adobe DRM." If you already have an Adobe ID, input it now. If you do not, tap Sign up to create one inside the app.

On Computer: Install & Set Up Cloud Library Software

For install links and use, see the instructions page for computer users.

When the Cloud Library software asks for an Adobe ID, you must choose to input the SAME personal Adobe ID used to set up the Aldiko app! Transfers will not work if you skip this.

    Transfer to Device Methods

Use whichever works best for your device, or is easiest for you. These instructions assume you've already checked out a book on the Cloud Library software.

    With Cloud Library Software:
    1. Connect your device to the computer. Some will need you to swipe from the top of the screen to see messages, and select to connect to the computer in USB or MTP mode.
    2. Open your Cloud Library software and go to the My Books tab. If the software recognizes your device, there will be a green transfer button on the cover of each checked out book. Click this.
    Drag & Drop Between Folders:
    1. In your Cloud Library software, go to the My Books tab and open each book once (by clicking cover) to ensure the file has downloaded to your computer. You may close Cloud Library now.
    2. On the computer, go to this folder (where downloaded books are): Documents->My Digital Editions.
    3. Connect your device to the computer. Some will need you to swipe from the top of the screen to see messages, and select to connect to the computer in USB or MTP mode.
    4. Open your device's internal storage (may do this by going to Computer and choosing device from list). You need to find/open a good folder to put the book files into. Best choice: Digital Editions folder. Media folder should also work.
    5. Drag and drop OR copy/paste the book file from your computer's My Digital Editions folder to the selected folder on your device.
    Opening the Book in Aldiko:
    1. Eject the device from the computer.
    2. Open the Aldiko app on the device. The book may be shown already in your Books view, just tap it to open it. If it is not:
      • Tap the Aldiko menu (upper left corner, green books icon).
      • Under "Get Books" select "Files."
      • Turn on the checkmark next to the Digital Editions folder (or whatever folder you put the book in).
      • Tap the "Import" button that has appeared in the upper right. Some older devices may have you do this every time you transfer a book.
