Chromebook

Please note that Chromebooks are still a bit limited. Google has been working on a way to use Android apps on a Chromebook (which would allow use of all our digital book systems). As of fall 2016 we understand the Play Store (OS update to 37.0) is now available on a few models of Chromebook and will become available to more devices through the end of 2016 and early 2017.  See Google's current list of devices that will get this feature.

Services available:
 What is it?
cloudLibrary

Suggested Free Services

As your device has fewer use options, please remember these:

  • Project Gutenberg (eBooks) - this has an online reader, but you would be able to download the EPUB file into a free EPUB reader from your Chrome app store.
  • LibriVox (audiobooks) - can listen online, or attempt to add the mp3s into the Music app.
  • Unite for Literacy (kids picture eBooks with audio) - these work in browser and do not download.
