Kansas Reads to Preschoolers

State Libksr2p 2019 cover: I Like Myself by Karen Beaumont with illustrations by David Catrowrarian Eric Norris, along with the Kansas Reads to Preschoolers committee, is pleased to announce that the 2019 title is I Like Myself, by Karen Beaumont. This picture book story will appeal to young readers, with a focus on the 2-5 years old age group.

I Like Myself is available in several formats, including hardcover, lap board book, and board book (available through Amazon and other vendors). The title is also available in a bilingual board book edition. Pricing and ordering information will be sent via email at a later date.

The State Library will be purchasing copies of this year’s Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Month title—one book for each public library location. These books may be used to celebrate this special event in any way your library chooses, and should be added to your library’s circulating collection. Libraries can expect to have their copies well in advance of the event.

The committee encourages participation throughout the month of November, so please keep track of the number of children who hear the book during the entire month to include on the Kansas Public Library survey.

Libraries may have events throughout the month!

Kansas Reads to Preschoolers is an annual event that promotes reading to all Kansas children from birth through age five. Through the statewide program, parents, librarians and caregivers are encouraged to read the chosen title during a selected week and month.
