|Laura J. Kelly, Current Governor
Born January 24, 1950 in New York City, Governor Kelly grew up in a career military family where she learned the importance of service, integrity and accountability. During her career as an Association Manager, Governor Kelly was a long-time leader of the Kansas Recreation and Parks Association, where she advocated for public parks across the state. In earlier jobs, she also fought to improve mental health services. Governor Kelly was elected to the Kansas Senate in 2004, where she was a key player in the establishment and funding of the Early Childhood Development Block Grants. Governor Kelly and her husband Ted Daughety, a doctor of pulmonary and sleep disorders, have been married for 34 years, and have two grown daughters, Kathleen and Molly Daughety.
