RBdigital has informed us that the issues that our PC users are experiencing with RBdigital Media Manager stem from protected titles.
Protected titles are those audiobooks that cannot be accessed outside of either the RBdigital website or the RBdigital app. Protected titles are indicated within the RBdigital catalog by an engaged lock icon as seen in the screenshot below.
Non-protected titles are those audiobooks that can be accessed outside of the website and app. Non-protected titles are indicated within the RBdigital catalog by an open lock icon as soon in the screenshot below.
If you typically use the RBdigital Media Manager, your only option currently is to return any protected titles that you have checked out. You’ll have to return them through the website as the Media Manager is currently unable to process these titles. Once you’ve done that, the Media Manager will function properly, allowing you to listen to items on your computer and transfer them to connected devices. Patrons who use the Media Manager will not be able to check out any protected titles.
It is, however, possible, to filter your search and restrict your results to just show non-protected titles. To do so, click the magnifying glass button to initiate a search, then click ADVANCED. Finally, go to the DIGITAL RIGHTS dropdown box (see the screenshot below), click the arrow, and select Non-Protected. You can then select any other options you’d like to filter or enter keywords in the Currently, there are 19,061 non-protected titles in our collection.
If you wish to continue to read protected titles, then you will have to either use the web player that’s part of the RBdigital website or, if you have an app-enabled device, download and use the RBdigital app.
