For the Horse Lovers

The December 1899 issue of the Quarterly Report of the Kansas State Board of Agriculture featured a large section on horses.  The subtitle for this article said it all:

"Part I: Devoted to the interests of those who breed, care for, use and appreciate the horse, and to the horse himself, his improved breeding and more humane treatment"

This issue is full of graphics of horses.  That said, it came to mind that we should publish an online "booklet" of some of the graphics within the issue for the enjoyment of horse lovers.

Voila! You can skim through this 22 page presentation of 20 pics of horses from the Report at the State Library of Kansas' KGI Online Library here:

The graphics in this presentation are a bit fuzzy so you might want to look at the complete article and read up on horses at the turn of the last century.  Keep in mind, if you do look through this issue, that the techniques and procedures for taking care of horses has probably changed a lot in about 120 years.
