This time of year we hear a lot about fire prevention in homes and businesses. Both Thanksgiving and the Christmas/Winter Holiday seasons bring with them lights, candles, cooking, baking and more electrical power use that increases the possibility of fires.
The Office of the Kansas State Fire Marshal has been and continues to be a leader in promoting fire safety and investigating fires and explosions in our state. The mission statement of the Office says it all:
"The Office of the State Fire Marshal is dedicated to protecting lives and property from the hazards of fire or explosion and will promote prevention, educational, and investigative activities to mitigate incidents, promote life safety and deter crimes."
The State Library's Kansas Government Information (KGI) Online Library has an excellent collection of current and past online publications of the State Fire Marshal's Office, both past and present. We invite you to take a look at these documents and in doing so come to a better appreciation of the extent that the Office goes to in protecting us all.
