Genealogy Online Resources

Posted on March 17, 2016 at 8:07 AM by Allie Lockwood

Are you interested in learning more about your family history?  Or looking for more resources to add to your genealogy toolkit?  The State Library has two online resources to meet your needs.  HeritageQuest and Genealogy Connect will help those just starting out in genealogy and those already experienced in family history.

HeritageQuest is powered by Ancestry.com and has a vast collection of genealogical and historical sources including maps, U.S. Federal Censuses, Military records, Immigration records, Revolutionary War Pensions, Freedman’s Bank records, PERSI archive, and U.S. Serial Set records.  HeritageQuest also has research aids with tips and tricks to using HeritageQuest and doing genealogy research.

Genealogy Connect is a collection of eBooks covering topics in genealogy best practices, Native American ancestry, colonial and revolutionary ancestry resources, immigration, royal and noble ancestry resources and more.  These resources can be easily searched and emailed, printed, downloaded, and saved.

To access HeritageQuest, visit http://kslib.info/HQ

To access Genealogy Connect, visit http://kslib.info/GC

If the page above asks for a Kansas Library eCard number, you may get one at any library in Kansas.  Most people will be automatically recognized as inside Kansas and will not need this step.   Questions: kslc@library.ks.gov or 785-296-3296.  To see all our online resources, visit http://kslib.info/eor
