caseyatthebat Casey at the Bat
by Ernest Lawrence Thayer

OneClickdigital Audiobook

This classic baseball poem was first published in 1888. The audio recording is very short (about 6 minutes) and the library has unlimited copies of this title. I listened to it several times in the process of picking out the books for this post and creating links, it never fails to make me chuckle.

loser Losers Take All
by David Klass
3M Cloud Library eBook

Jack’s sports-crazy school has declared that ALL kids must play on a team, so a group of non-athletic kids form their own soccer team. Their goal: avoid victory at all costs. The team isn’t quite sure what to do when their “losing formula” attracts fans!

A featured shelf on sports for each audience group (kids, young adult, and adult) is now available.
bruce lee Bruce Lee's Fighting Method
by Bruce Lee and M. Uyehara
Enki eBook

Normally I am not interested in martial arts but was quickly entranced by this book. It is full of step-by-step photographs of moves with descriptions of why it is best to do it this way. I recommend looking at it on your computer using Enki’s Read Online feature, where you can see an entire sequence of photos together (you would not be able to do this on mobile).

Two shelves with sports titles have now been added to our Enki homepage.

sonofgame A Son of the Game
by James Dodson
Freading or Total Boox eBook

This book can pull double-duty as a Father’s Day selection. When sports writer James Dodson feels he’s lost direction, he decides to take a trip to Pinehurst, North Carolina where his father taught him to play golf. During the trip he is also able to pass on his love for the game to his son.

Total Boox has a generous sports & recreation section to browse, and you may like this special shelf of Amazing Sports Records titles. While written for kids, record books with good photos and short stories are fun at any age.

Freading has multiple sections that work with the theme.  Here's the adult nonfiction, the juvenile nonfiction, and the juvenile fiction on sports. The juvenile fiction includes a lot of graphic-novel-like materials.
