Sec of State Kansas Directory_sm

The Kansas Directory, published by the Kansas Secretary of State, is a general but extensive guide to the state of Kansas.  The Directory is provided as a service to citizens giving them contact information for government officials/offices/services as well as interesting facts about Kansas.

Recent editions of the Kansas Directory are available at the State Library's KGI Online Library:

Also available is a sampling of older directories spanning about 40 years.  These older directories have different titles but generally cover the same information as the recent editions:

Some of the information you can find in these directories include:
The State Constitution, constitutional amendments (those that failed and passed and the votes for/against them), information on elected and appointed state government officials,  a short history of the state, information on the State Capitol and other government buildings, official state symbols, a list of interesting places to visit in Kansas, a section on interesting facts about Kansas, state legislative and US congressional districts information, population of towns and counties, county and city sales taxes, state retailers' sales tax chart, county license tag numbers/abbreviations, post offices list.

The older directories are a great look back at our recent history seen through the eyes of state government and worth at least a quick look through.  Some directories have photographs of people and places as well as sights and symbols of Kansas.

So come on into the KGI Online Library, find a comfortable chair and thumb through our growing collection of past and present Kansas Directories.
