Changes have been made to Skillport, our learning management system with access to over 400 online
self-paced courses and over 8,000 short instructional videos; topics
range from using Microsoft Office to leadership essentials to creating
budgets: http://kslib.info/1197/WebJunction-and-SkillPort
As part of the process of keeping the Skillsoft catalog up
to date in both content and technology, 13 courses that were
out of date and no longer supported by Skillsoft have been retired. These were the last courses
that required the user to have Java installed, which is a technology that all
the major browsers are moving away from.
11 of the 13 courses have direct replacements. Two of the
technical skills courses, which have had no registrations, have been removed to
make room for three new courses on topics more likely to be of interest to
library staff. In the table below, the course titles in the ‘added’ list are
hyperlinked to their description page on the main Skillsoft site.
Two document templates you can use to promote use of these courses have been provided to us as well. Look for links to Getting Started with Skillsoft and Skillsoft Promotional Language at the end of the page linked above.
