It is that time of year again when we take a look at financial information. Financial Literacy is recognized in the month of April, and Money Smart Week will be held April 21 through April 28 for this year. Financial Literacy Month is a great time to learn to manage personal finances with events and activities, and to highlight the importance of financial literacy.
The State Library of Kansas has put together resources that might be helpful for financial literacy education for all individuals, including multiple age ranges and interest levels. For more information, please see our
Financial Literacy for Kansans page.
Additionally, be sure to check out the
Resources at the State Library page. These are databases that have information available for residents of Kansas that deal with financial literacy. In
Universal Class, a database which offers online courses, users can search for finance related courses that include titles like
Personal Finance 101, and
Retirement Planning.
New this year, the
Learning Express Library has added a new facet to their tutorials. The
Personal Success Skills Tutorials help to develop healthy money habits, including investing for life and managing debt. To get to those tutorials, click on the LE link above, and then chose the Student Success Skills. From there, click on Skills for Success in College, find the Personal Success Skills, and click on Tutorials. Also, the financial literacy
Digital Books page has different titles available through several platforms that can help with personal finance.
For further information, links to Kansas government financial literacy resources are highlighted on the
Financial Organizations in Kansas tab in the Financial Literacy portion of the State Library’s website. Resources for both teachers and librarians include links to various
Financial Literacy curriculum resources, programming ideas, and possible future partnerships and grant opportunities.
These links are designed to provide you with information and tips to help you make informed financial decisions. Happy learning!
