A new addition to the virtual shelves of the State Library of Kansas' KGI Online Library, "Marketing Kansas Wheat," published in 1959, is one of those pictorial, fact-full gems that shouldn't be overlooked. Produced by the Kansas State Board of Agriculture, the 134 page book includes a step-by-step photographic journey of wheat from field to flour to food. Also included is information on Kansas' place in the world as a supplier of wheat, wheat statistics, production information and the nutritional value of wheat in foods. Last but not least the booklet provides a history of wheat farming in the Sunflower State.
So take a stroll through the ethereal stacks of the virtual State Library of Kansas, grab a copy of this wonderful book, sit back and take a look at the production and marketing of Kansas wheat sixty years ago:
