Quite often researchers at the State Library are looking for publications/information on state government that transcends the publications of one particular agency or institution. A report on the workings of a state agency might be issued by the Kansas Division of Post Audit, the Kansas Legislative Research Department, a special commission set up by the Legislature or the Governor. There are also events, places and people who have been the attention of different state government bodies. Documents on these topics may not be limited to publications issued by just one agency.
With this in mind we're starting something different here at the State Library of Kansas' KGI Online Library. "Special Collections" of digitized material on an agency, institution, event, place or individual. Our first Special Collection is the Topeka State Hospital (formerly State Insane Asylum at Topeka), 1875-1997. You can view KGI Online Library documents on this institution here:
