Resources Available on KSGenWeb

Posted on August 23, 2018 at 9:58 AM by Sarah Tenfelde-Dubois

The reference desk gets many questions asking about community information, such as county and township material, and genealogy resources. Some may remember that the State Library of Kansas originally hosted Blue Skyways for the Kansas library community, which served as a tool for local communities to share information regarding their libraries, government and culture.

When Blue Skyways was discontinued through the State Library as a hosting option, KSGenWeb found a new home so they could continue operation. Tom and Carolyn Ward are the state coordinators of KSGenWeb, who link to genealogy resources and other important county information.

Because we do get so many questions about community resources around Kansas, it is beneficial to review KSGenWeb, which can be found on the State Library’s Online Resources page, under the History and Genealogy tab, or at http://www.ksgenweb.org/ .  Also, if someone is interested in working with the project, please contact Tom and Carolyn using the information on the KSGenWeb website. For questions regarding anything to do with Kansas history, KS GenWeb might be the place to stop and look around.
