Starting in the mid 1920s the Kansas State Board of Vocational Education published a series of booklets promoting vocational education in all its aspects. Theses books offered young men and women new ideas in fields they might want to enter. It was primarily a photographic tour of different classes and groups learning various trades.
Carpentry, linotype operation, interior decoration, auto mechanics, vocational homemaking, site foremen, meat packing, coal mining, dressmaking, millinery arts, home nursing... The series gave the reader a great look at different occupations with a short description of each job.
We have the 1925/1926 edition of this booklet, "Cross Section of Vocational Education in Kansas, 1925-1926," in the State Library of Kansas' KGI Online Library... The copy we scanned was lent to us by the Kansas Historical Society. The booklet is a wonderful view of vocational education in the 1920s as well as a glimpse of life at that time.
