[ARCHIVED] 1917 Cursive Handwriting Guidebook

The original item was published from October 11, 2018 9:40 AM to October 11, 2018 9:43 AM

My cousin, Joyce, recently sent me a booklet published by the Kansas State Printer in 1917 which brought back some elementary school memories. It was a guide for cursive handwriting. I looked through the publication and remembered trying to imitate those perfect loops over and over again in my Big Chief Tablet... though if I'm not mistaken, my loops were far from perfect and didn't quite stay between the lines.

We've scanned this booklet and added it to the State Library of Kansas' KGI Online Library. Cursive handwriting is just about a lost art in the United States. For those of you who learned it it'll be a blast from the past. For those who've never learned this fine art... Here's a chance to see what your parents or grandparents worked on rather than keyboarding in school!
