In 1963 the architectural firm, George H. Eicholtz & Associates presented a report to the State Architect of Kansas and the Division of Institutional Management of the Kansas State Department of Social Welfare on the condition of the 11 institutions operated by the Department.
The cool things about this report are the plans of the institutions... graphic layouts of each institution. You can look at each plan and find the locations of buildings, some long gone, with information on each building (including the year when each building was built).
Instituions in the report are:
Larned State Hospital, Osawatomie State Hospital, Topeka State Hospital, Parsons State Hospital and Training Center, Winfield State Hospital and Training Center, Kansas Neurological Institute, Kansas Children's Receiving Home (Atchison), State Industrial School for Boys (Topeka), State Industrial School for Girls (Beloit), State Sanatorium for Tuberculosis (Norton), and Southeast Kansas Tuberculosis Hospital (Chanute)
