If you have a Kansas Library eCard, you have access to Freading (https://kslib.freading.com), an eBook platform that currently includes more than 138,000 titles. While most of these are older books, many of them nonfiction and lots of fiction from smaller publishers, the greatest benefit of Freading is that all of the books on there are always available. So, while on cloudLibrary or Enki you might have to put a book on hold if someone’s currently got it checked out, Freading books are available regardless of how many other people are currently reading them. This makes Freading perfect for book clubs. Rather than having everyone in your book club purchase a copy, simply pick a title that’s available on Freading. I’ve included a small selection of good book club picks here. Additionally, you can access a list of similar titles from the Freading website or through the app by scrolling down on the main page and tapping For Book Clubs.
