The State Library of Kansas' KGI Online Library has, within its venerable, virtual walls, a short series of publications of possible interest to automobile enthusiasts, especially those researchers looking for data on autos out on the road in the 1920s and early 1930s. The "Rate Book of Weights and Fees" (1922-1931 - Incomplete), used for registration and taxation purposes, lists cars and trucks by producing company, year, model, style, weight and license fee. The introduction to the 1927 edition states:
"This schedule of weights and fees is compiled and furnished to county treasurers for the purpose of guiding them in collecting license fees in compliance with the motor vehicle law, Revised Statutes of 1923 and chapter 83, Laws of 1925. Where cars are not listed, or weights are not available, cars must be weighed and license fees computed accordingly."
