BARD: Access audio materials on demand

Posted on April 17, 2020 at 8:41 AM by Maggie Witte

During this time of crisis, we want to assure you that we are here for you. Our plan is to try to start sending books again starting Monday, April 20th, but there may delays in our services until such time as things return to normal.

However, we know you still want and need books to read. Reading allows you to escape from current events for a time, offers a way to de-stress, and to have some time to yourselves. We understand that books can be your only lifeline during times of great stress and tribulation. Our goal is to make our books available to you as soon as we can.

As such, we encourage all our patrons to use our download-on-demand service, BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download) website, desktop application BARD Express (Windows only), and/or BARD Mobile app. BARD is maintained by the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) and provides access to our entire collection with no delays and no due dates.

We want to stress that BARD enables patrons to access the entire collection of audio books the National Library Service has, and many books recorded locally by individual talking book libraries.

For more information, visit NLS’s BARD information page.
