This week while we're sequestered in place the State Library of Kansas' KGI Online Library is promoting a small booklet published 100 years ago on two topics near and dear to the hearts of many nature enthusiasts... birds and trees. This is a perfect time of the year to read up on both topics. The songs and calls of birds are sounding around us right now while trees are budding force with a wild variety of green leaves as well as pink, white and red blossoms.
The booklet, issued by the Kansas State Horticultural Society and published by Kansas State Printer, Imri Zumwalt, is a down-to-earth promotion of fowl and forest, not just for enjoyment, but for the economic benelfits of both.
It contains the following sections...
Birds, Their Practical Benefit / by Geo. A. Blair
The Farm Wood Lot, a State Asset / by F. L. Kenoyer.
