This book is the first in a series that follows the adventures of a rag tag crew on a spaceship. In the near future, Earth is under one government, but so too are Mars and the asteroid belt each under their own governments. These three distinct groups of people have been adversarial for some time, with Earth and Mars at a cold war and both taking advantage of the people in the asteroid belt.
In this first book, the crew is hauling ice across the galaxy. With this main cast of characters being from the three different groups, they too do not get along. But, as they are faced with a mounting danger none of them could have predicted, they must work together to survive. Along the way, they all become fast friends and learn to understand each other.
This book is science fiction but not overly technical or full of made-up words. I, for one, am not normally a fan of reading science fiction, but this one had me hooked. The authors, Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck writing under one name, weave together science fiction, adventure, and mystery into a nail-biting adventure.
I would recommend this to anybody who haven’t really gotten into any science fiction work or for those diehard science fiction lovers.
