Happy Kansas Day!

January 29, 2016 will mark the 155th anniversary of Kansas' admission as the 34th state in the Union.  With that in mind we've pulled a few digital documents off the virtual shelves of the State Library's KGI Online Library that celebrate our state and promote what we have to offer.

150 "Best" Kansas Books  (2010-2011)
A project coordinated by the State Library of Kansas to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Kansas statehood.  Included in this collection is a list of 150 books about Kansas or by Kansans voted on by people around the globe five years ago.  The list of books includes history, fiction, travel, government, etc.

Kansas Tourist Guide (1955?)
and
Kansas Travel and Recreation Guide  (1958)
These two booklets, published by Kansas Industrial Development Commission in the 1950s, give a post-World War II pictorial overview of the Sunflower State for both travelers and residents.

To The Stars (1945-1950)
A Kansas Industrial Development Commission newsletter promoting economic development in Kansas in the 40s and 50s.

Something Wild! A Wildlife Education Guide (2006)
This 2006 Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks publication, written primarily for educators gives the reader an "awareness and appreciation of Kansas wildlife."
