The Kansas School Naturalist

Posted to KGI Online Library Blog on August 17, 2021 at 2:56 PM by Bill Sowers

I'm jumping out of the KGI Online Library today to promote a publication issued by the Emporia State University Department of Biology...  One of the best reads I've found published by a Kansas state agency/institution is the Department's series of booklets called "Kansas School Naturalist." Kansas Fish and Game magazine, 1939-1969, online

Posted to KGI Online Library Blog on February 23, 2017 at 3:47 PM by Bill Sowers

How many of you have ever flipped through pages of "Kansas Fish & Game," a quarterly magazine published by the Kansas Forestry, Fish and Game Commission. Begun in 1939, the periodical featured articles and photos on hunting, fishing, trapping, game laws, and Kansas wildlife and scenes.

Interested? Well, the State Library of Kansas has a deal for you!  Wet that virtual thumb and turn back the pages of time looking through this magazine once more... or for the first time... at the Kansas Government Information (KGI) Online Library.

We've scanned issues of this wonderful magazine from 1939 to 1969 and offer it up for any and all to peruse.  Read the articles or just skim through looking at the pictures.  You can access issues of this document via the KGI Online Library record:

Just click on the title link and you'll be taken to a list of yearly volumes with combined issues throughout each year.

Happy hunting!

FEATURED AGENCY COLLECTION

We feature here a different agency or division of a large agency and its publications within the Kansas Government Information (KGI) Online Library:

The mission of the State Board of Education is to promote academic achievement by providing leadership, accountability, opportunity, educational vision, and advocacy for all. Schools will work with families and communities to prepare each student with the living, learning, and working skills and values necessary for caring, productive, and fulfilling participation in a changing society. The ten-member State Board of Education has authority for the general supervision of public education. Board members are elected for four-year terms and represent specific geographic areas of the state. The Board appoints a Commissioner of Education who serves at the pleasure of the Board and is responsible for administration of the Department. The primary duties of the Board include classification and accreditation of schools, approval of teacher preparation programs, establishment of graduation requirements, distribution of state and federal financial aid, certification of teachers and administrators, and administration of school lunch and nutrition programs. In addition, the State Board of Education has jurisdiction over the School for the Blind and School for the Deaf.
