Like many farmers, Julene wants to hold on to her family land and maintain this way of life for her son and future generations. But that means irrigating the fields from the Ogallala Aquifer, and being a part of depleting this vital water source of the Great Plains.

Reminder: the Kansas Book Festival is this Saturday, September 12! Bair is unable to make it, but all the other 2015 authors of Notable Books will be there.

A 2015 Kansas Notable Book. Lily was put up for adoption at age 3, and her mother disappeared. She tried to forget about being adopted, but that's hard with the Korean War going on. Her Asian heritage makes her a target of racism. With the help of her little brother Ralph and artist Elliot, Lily finds the courage to investigate her origins.

Barabara Stuber will be presenting at the Kansas Book Festival on Saturday, September 12, held in Topeka at the Capitol.
