Emergency Connectivity Fund Overview
Tuesday, June 22, 2021
As part of the American Rescue Plan passed earlier this year, the Emergency Connectivity Fund was established to provide $7.171B for the purchase during the COVID-19 emergency period of eligible equipment (e.g. Wi-Fi hotspots, modems, routers, laptop or tablet computers) or advanced telecommunications and information services (or both).
These are available for public libraries to purchase to bring connectivity to devices to users outside the library itself. The program will be administered through a process similar to the E-rate program, but with significant changes in the application and reimbursement processes, and timelines.
We expect the application window to open in late June or July for 45 days, so you need to be ready in order to participate.
Join Aleck Johnson, Vice President of EdTech Strategies on June 22 at 10am to learn more about the program, determine the steps you can take to be ready to participate, and navigate the application process.
